British Sports Cars in downtown San Luis Obispo is pleased to offer this 1960 Morgan Plus 4 Four-Seater.
This Morgan belonged to a longtime client and friend of our shop who has sadly passed away, and it is now time to find the car its next home. She purchased the Morgan later in life, around the time of her retirement, specifically looking for a classic car that she could get out and truly enjoy. She chose the four-seat version because she appreciated the additional room and practicality it offered.
And enjoy it she did. She drove this Morgan extensively, participated in numerous events and car shows, and even took part in Morgans Across America. This was never a car that simply sat in a collection—it was bought to be driven, and that is exactly what she did with it.
The car has been updated with high-back seats, which provide considerably more comfort and safety than the original-style seats. The upholstery remains very presentable, with no major tears or damage. We would rate the interior approximately a 7 out of 10.
Likewise, the paint and body present very nicely but are not perfect. As you would expect from a Morgan that has actually been driven and enjoyed, there are various nicks, chips, scratches, and other signs of use. We would rate the exterior approximately a 7 out of 10. We would much rather accurately describe the car for what it is than represent it as something it is not.
Power comes from the rugged Standard-Triumph four-cylinder engine, closely related to the engine found in the Triumph TR3. These are strong, proven engines and a great match for the lightweight Morgan chassis.
Most importantly, this is a great-running and driving Morgan that is ready to continue doing exactly what its previous owner intended—being driven and enjoyed. It comes complete with its top, side curtains, and tonneau cover.
If you are looking for an honest, well-loved Morgan with wonderful history and plenty of character, this is a very appealing example. It has already had a life filled with adventures, shows, tours, and miles on the road, and it is ready for its next owner to add to that story.
