1973 Lotus Super 7 Series 4 – Rare and Fully Restored

British Sports Cars in San Luis Obispo is proud to present this 1973 Lotus Super 7 Series 4, an exceptionally rare example of one of Lotus’ most unique creations. The Series 4 was the final iteration of the Lotus 7 before the rights to production were sold to Caterham, making it the rarest and most collectible of all the 7 variants. Unlike the earlier Lotus 7 and Super 7 models, the Series 4 features distinct bodywork that sets it apart and makes it instantly recognizable to enthusiasts.

History and Provenance

This vehicle has a fully documented history from new in the UK, with paperwork covering its ownership and maintenance over the decades. In 2016, it underwent a comprehensive, ground-up restoration in England before being imported to the United States. Upon arrival, it was entrusted to British Sports Cars, where we carried out extensive work to further refine and complete the restoration to a very high standard.

Originally finished in black, the car was refinished at the time of restoration in classic Lotus green with a yellow nose cone, a color scheme that perfectly complements its heritage.

Condition and Mechanical Details

With just 300 miles since restoration, this Super 7 is in exceptional condition throughout. The engine was freshly rebuilt by the respected specialists at Wilcox Racing Engines in the UK, and we have complete records, including receipts, photos, and dynamometer test slips, documenting the work performed.

This is not your average Lotus Super 7. It has been thoroughly restored, mechanically refreshed, and maintained to the highest standards, offering peace of mind and driving enjoyment for the next enthusiast owner.
